antique duck decoy question.?

I met a beautiful collection of antique decoys free and I was wondering if someone could experience a real world price on them or an online guide i could use. They are general fiber paper company Matchee Mallard decoys. All are excellent shape. To read the book believed between 125 and 175 ducks. But the last time I checked lures buy the books. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where can I sell a wedding dress inherited?

I inherited wedding dress of my great aunt from the 1930s-years 40, it is in a wonderful state, but I know I wear it because it is not appropriate and is very old. I was wondering if anyone knew of places other ebay that I could sell it, or if there are museums that would buy it because I would love if someone else can use it on their special day or it could be exposed somewhere. All ideas welcome, and thank you in advance for your help! I inherited the dress because I am a member of the family just short enough to wear, eventually, and my great-aunt for one of us to sell to help pay for our own wedding. I plan to honor her by wearing some of her jewelry.

My suggestion would have been eBay but try a few stores that buy used clothes or sell an antique appraiser.

I am trying to determine if a doll I have is antique or has value?

The doll is approximately 6 inches tall. On the back of the neck is a marking of a spider and the number 18. I think it may be German made. Someone help me to identify this issue as having any value at all?

Antique Longines watch?

I have been trying to find the value of ladies antique Longines watch, which was probably manufactured in the 1930s or 40s. Where would the best place to find this information? I tried eBay to find the watch, but I only found ’similar’ patterns. The watch has no name other than the manufacturer. For those who know about watches: It is 14k gold, with a face rectangular. Longines The word is on the face and the numbers 12 and 6. (Dots replace other numbers) The details of the next face almost like a form of Arch. It is a watch-style bracelet with a safety chain.

No matter what the value of it is, the price an antique dealer will offer you is less than half what they think they will be able to sell at. You may get a better price if you sell yourself, privately or through online auction.

So I just took enough snipers outbid eBay me at the last second. I refuse to use the program sniping because it is unjust. I love old cameras and love to gather, not so much the dollar value, but because I love watching them and use them. I live on an island where there really are no antiques stores or thrift stores. I often sail Shopgoodwill.com and Keh.com. Where else online can I find a place that sells vintage cameras or auctions?

You know those white metal / iron beds with scroll designs? Well, I wanted one since I was kid, and I want to know, where do I look online to find a queen size? My 94 yr. grandmother was a collector who has lived in the same house since 1941. We are currently moving his / clean the house, and Coming across some surprising findings – ie 1941 National Geographic / 1952 Family Circle/1953 Field & Stream, vintage clothing, toys and antiques, as well as many odds and ends that we know nothing (unless they are too old). It's not like we can rent a room to Antiques Roadshow expert, so other ideas please?

Where can I find a guide to yardsale and thrift store shopping?

Hello, When I go shopping in stores offering yardsale and I am looking for what could be more valuable than they are sold. Antiques, jewelry, or anything I could do turn around and sell for profit. The thing is, I do not know what things to look for. I was told to find old books, jewelry, silver Sterling, etc.. etc. .. but because I never had any interest in these things before and I never buy these things for me .. I do not know what be sought. I do not know if I found something interesting to buy. Can anyone help? Are there any books that I can not help me or anyone Other tips? Thank you!

RealSimple has a guide yardsale good:) Just go to the home page and search for yardsale / Guide garage sale. As for antiques, perhaps you could go to PBS website and pull up information on the antiques roadshow and see what books they use on the show as a reference.

Shopping Ebay for Antique Jewelry: I want to know…

Is it odd to pre-purchase jewelry for women without knowing the occassion?

I used to collect ladies’ jewelry even though I am a man. I would win it in auctions on eBay. Pieces nice enough to sell for a lot of money in an antique shop. I enjoy doing this and this way, when Mom’s anniversary or my Aunt’s birthday rolls around I have something nice for them on hand and do not have to run out and buy something impersonal. I gave my sister a necklace last year with a very nice set of diamonds. I get good deals on these things. I even bought an engagement ring if I ever need it! I thought if I had a needed to give a woman a gift, I should have one ready to go. I do not wear women’s jewelry, but some of my friends have discovered I was buying jewelry for women and now they tease me about it. They thought it was strange.

This is not fun to be teased for being a man collecting women’s jewelry. This type of collecting is like any other art or hobby and like art, could possibly increase in value over time. Also, everyone likes pretty, shiny things regardless of gender. The engagement ring may not be the best item to give a potential fiance and here’s why….we all like to think we're special and that our future husband chooses a ring with us in mind. If purchased before we’ve even met, we don’t feel the ring or the love is unique. Otherwise, no, it is not surprising for a man to have a collection like this.
