Arthur Fowler’s antique clock?

Jeremy mentioned that:

There was an episode of Eastenders back in around 1995, 1996, and Arthur Fowler was in receipt of delivery of an antique clock. As the episode progressed, Arthur and Willy Roper (the guy that ultimately framed him regarding the embezzlement of funds for the ‘flowering Walford’ campaign, or whatever it was called) speculated on who could have sent him the clock, and why.

As far as I know, this was never resolved. Ever. I know it’s trivial, but it’s stuff like this that keeps me awake at night.

Please advise.

Antique French Clocks

Robert wrote:

I don’t wish to go to an antique store and get nothing.

The clock store that looked at it said that the clockworks were the nicest they had seen in a clock of that age. It is a light colored marble which is not as valuable as black. It is a Waterbury. The clock shop said approximately 1891.

Qualified antique clock repair needed…anywhere in the USA?

Trent Rockport mentioned that:

My dad has a clock that my grandmother owned until she died in 1997.

My grandmother’s clock was less ornate than this one, but looks similar enough that I’d say it’s from the same manufacturer, Gustav-Becker. It’s in Florida and I’m in Utah, so I’m going on memories here. I remember that as a child in 1970, it broke. A repairman was able to fix it, but he told my grandmother “it will run for another thirty years, then it will never work again”.

The finality of an assertion like that really stuck with me as a second grader.

Sure enough, a few years ago it stopped working. So I’d like to know.
Can you recommend a craftsman skilled with such clocks?
Why would a repairman make such an unusual assertion in 1970?
Is this still the case?

Web Sites to Sell Antique Clocks

Fayetteville Doug wants to know:

I have an old antique clock that is so old that the wheels and pieces are made of wood. Do you know of a web site where I may list it…other than ebay. I hate to let it go but its necessary.

I would think that it is at least 150 yrs. old. Its a treasure and it was taken apart to ship during the war. IT is still in pieces ..none are broken. A person would have to know how to put it back together.

This clock has been in the family for years but we know nothing about it. It has a sweet antique face with “Trademark KY” and Star of David logo. Are there any clock collectors out there who could tell me more about this piece? Year made, value, etc… Thanks.
